Extreme Dream Home Makover

Ray and Minnie Davis have been a constant presence at the Dream Center from the very beginning. They became a part of the Dream Center/Church on the Rock family in 2007, right after receiving the news that they had lost their son to an IED explosion in Iraq. Since that moment they have been described countless times as a “lighthouse” for the neighborhood. It was not surprising that God would bless this beautiful couple in such a huge way when two churches came together to give them a “new” home.

Experience Life Church approached the Dream Center looking for a project to partner together on. God had a plan to answer the prayers of Ray and Minnie Davis thru this partnership. Ray and Minnie had been praying for about a year for God to send someone to help with some much needed repairs on their home. God delivered more than a “repair team,” He sent an “Extreme Dream Home Makeover Team!” Project leaders, George Neudorf and Danielle Burgett put hundreds of volunteers to work over the next 11 weeks.

The Davis family was moved into a temporary rent house so that a complete home restoration could begin. While working on this project the God “winks” that took place were abundant and amazing. Churches, businesses, organizations and many volunteers gave time, materials and money to see the project thru. The Brown family, which recently received their own Extreme Home Makeover on national TV, also gave their time and prayers. There was a new sense of hope that radiated throughout the atmosphere.

When Ray and Minnie returned to their home, it was absolutely a day they will never forget. Ray compared the process to “watching God’s hands at work.” The gratitude and appreciation was like a bright light shining from Ray and Minnie’s faces as they walked into their transformed home for the first time. This project, described by Danielle Burgett as “the largest outreach project Experience Life has ever been a part of” will forever be etched on the hearts of all those that volunteered and gave. The neighborhood will never be the same as Experience Life and many volunteers became the hands and feet of Christ to a family in need.
