Who We Are

Our Story

What began as a simple mobile food pantry has grown into the Lubbock Dream Center—a hub of hope and transformation for thousands in our city. Since opening in 2010, the LDC has expanded through strong community partnerships and generous support, including a $1.75 million grant from the JT & Margaret Talkington Foundation, which led to the opening of the Talkington Life Center in 2015.

The LDC now serves over 1,600 people weekly with food, clothing, and life-changing programs that promote health, growth, and community transformation. One of our most impactful outreaches is the Action Family Program, where individuals are incentivized for making healthy lifestyle choices such as attending walking club, having their vitals checked, or learning in one of our cooking or education classes. Today, we continue to grow—and we need space to grow with us. With more partners offering bulk donations, we’re planning to expand our facilities to include enhanced storage, a larger clothes closet, food pantry, and test site.

Our Mission: Build Families, Restore Hope & Inspire Dreams.

The Lubbock Dream Center exists to be a hand up in our city. We desire to see the hearts and minds of people transformed by the Word of God, and by the love and acceptance of the body of Christ. We take people from dependence to a place of responsibility by meeting people’s basic needs and building relationships with them. This opens the door for spiritual needs to be met, which in turn brings social transformation, resulting in life pattern changes, economic rise, and neighborhood improvements.
